An Evaluation of my 2011 reading Challenge (Originally Posted from my FB notes)

This is an evaluation of the books-to-read in 2011 list I’ve made earlier this year. Im glad that I was able to read more books this year than last year with a target of  reading at least 20 books  this year and so far, I was able to read 9 books for the month of July alone so I’m trying to beat that record this August. Unfortunately, most of the books I’ve read in July were not in my list so I think it would be better to evaluate or rather monitor  how much I have achieved in completing my reading goal and here it is:

Original to-read List:

1. Dracula by Bam Stoker – not done yet (boo!) perhaps will read it this August (hmm)

2. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte (Check. I’ve read it with a reading buddy at goodreads.com. Not the usual kind of love story but I like it.)

3. Mansfied Park by Jane Austen – (Check. Finally I was able to get trough the book but the ending was very disappointing)

4. Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom – (check)

5. Jane Eyre – Check. But I want to re-read it.

6. The Life of PI –

7. The Time traveller’s Wife

8. Atonement

9. The Stand

10. Sense and Sensibility

11. Northranger Abbey

12. Pilgrim’s Progress

13. Passion and Purity

14. Ethical Ambition

15. Captain Correli’s Mandolin

16. Through the Looking glass

17. Wizard of Oz

18.Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Roald Dahl– Check. I enjoyed reading this book.

19. 1984

20. The Last Lecture

Total -5/20

Books I’ve read this year that are not in my list

1. I Kissed Dating goodbye by Joshua Harris

2. Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

3. Percy Jackson: The Sea of monters by Rick Riordan

4. Percy Jackson: The Titan’s Curse by Rick Riordan

5. Percy Jackson: The Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan

6. Percy Jackson: The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan

7. Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson

8. Are you there God? It’s Me Margareth by Judy Blume

9. The Catcher in the Rye by J,D. Salinger

10. No Strings Attached by Mina Esguerra

11. Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen

12. Princess Diaries 1 by Meg Cabot

13. Ang mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan by Bob Ong

14. Si Tandang Basio Macunat by Fray Miguel Lucio y Bustamante

15. Before Ever After by Samantha Sotto

16. Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator by Roald Dahl

Currently Reading:

1. Perfume: The Story of a Murderer by Patrick Suskind

4. The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame

See, how impulsive I am even in my reading choice? Most of the books in my read list this year are unplanned but I will still do my best to read all those in my original list before the year ends.

  1. Nice list!

I tend to read Jane Eyre once a year, or at least crack it open and read a couple of chapters. It’s my favorite piece of literature. 🙂 Btw, thanks for the add on GoodReads!

    • hi cate! you’re welcome and thanks for visiting this site..

Actually, I made this list to motivate me to read more books this year and finish all my back logs. Thanks to goodreads because my list is now improving.

yeah, I also love Jane Eyre but it took me several months before I get through the end and it feels like I missed some details in the first part of the story so I want to re-read it.
